So what’s really in your food!?  Most likely, way more sugar than you realize!

Have you heard of Fed Up?


Fed Up is a documentary released last year focusing on the causes of obesity in the US.  It presents hard evidence about the large quantities of sugar added to processed foods and the role the government (and “Big Sugar” lobbyists) play in blocking attempts to address the issue. Check out the trailer on youtube here.  It’s really quite intriguing!!

The documentary is available on Netflix as well as Amazon (for about $10) if you’re interested in watching it.  We highly recommend it!  It just may change the way you view your food! And we all know, you can’t out train a crappy diet!!

And we’re not being paid by Fed Up or anyone else to tell you these things…just trying to pass on helpful information for your quest to a more healthy & fit life!

These days, sugar is being hidden in your food by various names…


Can you believe all those!?  Quite shocking really!

And these hidden ingredients are being marketed to you & your kids ALL. THE. TIME.  A few facts for you from the Fed Up website:

  • In 2012, Americans consumed an average of 765 grams of sugar every 5 days, or 130 pounds each year.
  • Individuals who drink one to two sugar-sweetened beverages per day have a 26 percent higher risk for developing type II diabetes.
  • One soda a day increases a child’s chance of obesity by 60%.
  • It will take a 110-pound child 75 minutes of bike riding to burn off the calories in one 20-ounce bottle of soda.

One thing (among many) that sugar is guilty of is causing inflammation!  According to this great read here (and Dr. James He’bert, a professor at the Univ of SC) “Inflammation accounts for probably around 75 percent of all American healthcare problems. For example, diabetes is an inflammatory-related condition, heart disease has its root in inflammation with foam cell formation, and a lot of cancers are inflammation-related.”

This sugar in food stuff is pretty scary!  That’s why we encourage people to, of course, workout, but we can’t neglect the importance of what we put in our mouths!!  Knowledge is power people, so arm yourselves with information!
